Sustainability Management Advice And Training

Land Management

Current land management techniques can result in very significant negative environmental impacts. These impacts range from Climate Change from carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide emissions (from a number of sources), soil erosion and degradation, water pollution, resource use, loss of biodiversity etc. There are also the negative socio/economic sustainability impacts including loss of jobs and traditional skills, loss of rural communities, loss of public confidence in food production methods and so on.

The opportunities that lie with sustainable land management to provide multiple benefits from Climate Change mitigation to improvements in human health are being increasingly recognised. There are few economic activities that can, through the application of cyclical thinking, offer genuine win win solutions to so many of the environmental challenges that we face.

Understanding both the threats and the opportunities, and the relevant processes, is critical to the development of sound sustainability strategies and policies.
